WriteSmith AI (“the Service”) is an AI-powered writing tools platform operated by Melrose Search Limited (“we”, “us”, “our”). The Service provides tools for text analysis, paraphrasing, grammar checking, content generation, and other writing assistance functions.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using WriteSmith AI, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

3. Account Registration

Some features require an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activities under your account. You must provide accurate information when creating an account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use WriteSmith AI to:

• Submit content as your own work in violation of your institution’s academic integrity policies
• Generate content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or discriminatory
• Circumvent usage limits or access controls
• Use automated scripts or bots to access the Service
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service
• Resell or redistribute generated content as a competing service

We encourage all users to use AI-assisted writing in accordance with their institution’s or organisation’s guidelines on AI usage.

5. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

All content generated by WriteSmith AI is produced by artificial intelligence models and should be treated as suggestions and drafts, not professional advice. Specifically:

• Generated essays and academic content should be used as starting points, not submitted as-is
• Grammar and style suggestions may not always be correct — use your judgement
• AI detection scores are estimates, not definitive determinations
• Legal content (privacy policies, terms) are templates requiring professional review
• Career advice (CVs, cover letters) should be reviewed and personalised

We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any generated content for any particular purpose.

6. Intellectual Property

Your content: You retain ownership of all text you submit to and receive from WriteSmith AI. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your input or generated output.

Our service: The WriteSmith AI platform, including its design, code, branding, and features, is owned by Melrose Search Limited and protected by intellectual property laws.

7. Payment Terms

• Free tier: available without payment, subject to daily usage limits
• Subscriptions: billed monthly or annually. Auto-renew until cancelled. Cancel at any time from your account settings or Stripe billing portal.
• Credit packs: one-time payments. Credits never expire.
• Founding Member: one-time lifetime payment. Includes Career Pro features for life.
• Refunds: 7-day money-back guarantee on all subscription plans and the Founding Member deal. No refunds on credit packs once used.

All prices are in GBP (British Pounds) and inclusive of VAT where applicable. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days’ notice to existing subscribers.

8. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data.

9. Service Availability

We aim to provide reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages. We are not liable for any losses arising from service downtime.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Melrose Search Limited shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. Upon termination, your saved documents and generation history will be permanently deleted.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
